Health Story Project Technology Workshop

The Health Story Project is proud to partner with MTIA to bring to you the following workshop at the 21st Annual MTIA Conference presented by Alschuler Associates, LLC: “Narrative Notes and the EHR: An Introduction to Health Story and the Clinical Document Architecture”

This workshop will provide an overview of Health Level Seven (HL7) Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), emphasizing the relationship to dictation/transcription and meaningful use of electronic health record (EHR) technology.  CDA is an electronic format for the structure and semantics of clinical notes widely adopted for use within electronic health records. It supports simple XML encoding, such as can be achieved through any dictation/transcription process and complex encoding achieved through abstractor annotation, structured entry and natural language processing.

Primary Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the scope and intent of CDA
  • Provide examples of areas of application for CDA
  • List the types of tools that are used with CDA
  • Describe how transcribed CDA documents are imported into EMR systems
  • Review the basics of the CDA specification
  • Explain the current status and work on CDA, including the Health Story Project
  • Introduce attendees to the Health Story-sponsored CDA Implementation Guides for History & Physical, Consult, Diagnostic Imaging Report, Operative Note, Discharge Summary and the new guides for Procedure Note and Unstructured Documents.
  • Consider how adoption of CDA can support your organization’s mission

Who Should Attend?:  IT professionals working for any size MTSO who are responsible for their organization’s IT landscape and are seeking to begin the implementation of this critically important technology solution.

Registration for this workshop must be purchased separately as it is not included with full conference or single day passes.  Food and beverage service will not be included however time will be allotted for lunch. No other MTIA 2010 conference events are included with the purchase of this workshop.   You must register for this workshop using the printable version of the MTIA 2010 registration form found below:
