Specter (R-PA)
Prevents and mitigates identity theft, ensures privacy, provides notice of security breaches, and enhances criminal penalties, law enforcement assistance, and other protections against security breaches, fraudulent access, and misuse of personally identifiable information. Smith (R-OR)
Strengthens data protection and safeguards, requires data breach notification, and further prevents identity theft. Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar, 12/8/05.

Sessions (R-AL)

Provides for comprehensive identity theft protection.
Feinstein (D-CA)
Requires Federal agencies and persons engaged in interstate commerce, in possession of data containing personal information, to disclose any unauthorized acquisition of such information.
Nelson (D-FL)/Markey (D-MA)
Regulates information brokers and protects individual rights with respect to personally identifiable information.
Feinstein (D-CA)
Amends the United States Code to limit the misuse of social security numbers and establishes penalties for such misuse.
Pryce (R-OH)
Amends the Fair Credit Reporting Act to provide for secure financial data.
LaTourette (R-OH)
Provides for the uniform and timely notification of consumers whose sensitive financial personal information has been placed at risk by a breach of data security. Enhances data security safeguards, and provides appropriate consumer mitigation services.
Shaw (R-FL)

Enhances Social Security account number privacy protections, to prevent fraudulent misuse of the Social Security account number, and to otherwise enhance protection against identity theft.

Stearns (R-FL)

Protects and enhances consumer privacy.
