Jay Cannon, Immediate Past President

Mr. Cannon's background includes having invested the last 18 years in the medical transcription industry. His experience includes having been the Executive Vice President for Spheris, Inc, a company he co-founded in 1998, and having worked with The MRC Group and Medifax/Secrephone.

His education includes degrees from the University of Kansas.

Jay has served on the MTIA Board of Directors for 2 terms, which included the positions of Vice President, Committee Chairman and Committee Member. He was the Chair of the BMP and Value Standards Committee, and has actively participated in the MTIA/AHIMA Task Force which has produced the White Paper on the VBC (Visual Black Character.
